"Dirty Connecticut Mayor (Sentenced To Prison For Corruption) Reelected In Landslide"

Tyler Durden's picture

After East Chicago re-elected an accused drug dealer and murderer as councilman, we thought the bar had dropped as low as it gets for the ignorance of an electorate. But, no! Bridgeport, Connecticut residents just took the proverbial biscuit by re-electing Mayor Joseph P. Ganim - who during his last 'reign' was convicted of 16 felonies including racketeering, extortion, and bribery.

As TheAntiMedia.org's Lou Colagiovanni details, Ganim spent seven years of his life in federal prison as a result of the convictions.
Political pundits originally saw Ganim’s candidacy as a sideshow with no hope of electability, but the joke was on them. In September, Ganim defeated Bridgeport’s incumbent mayor, Bill Finch, by 400 votes during the Democratic primary.

Mary-Jane Foster, the Vice President of the University of Bridgeport, was Ganim’s closest opponent and lost the election by a landslide margin of almost 2 to 1. Imagine that—the voters prefered a convicted felon known for making backroom deals over an illustrious member of the community who has dedicated her life to education.

Foster was stunned by Ganim’s victory. I couldn’t be more surprised. I expected that I would be elected the next mayor of Bridgeport. Voters were clearly willing to give Joe Ganim a second chance,” she commented.

Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy acknowledged Ganim’s triumph. “The voters have spoken, and I want to congratulate Joe Ganim on his victory. I am committed to moving Bridgeport forward, and, as I have said, I will continue to put the best interests of the community first,” he said.

Though unusual, a mayor being convicted of a felony does not automatically mean the candidate cannot win reelection. Marion S. Barry Jr., the former Mayor of Washington, D.C., was convicted of smoking crack cocaine in 1990 and sentenced to six months in prison. Barry’s arrest meant he could not run for reelection, but the voters brought him back to the mayoralty from 1995 to 1999.

In a showing of sheer political gamesmanship, Ganim was able to convince one of the FBI agents who originally arrested him in 2003 to endorse his campaign. Ganim was also endorsed by the local police union.

Ganim was gracious in victory. “We not only made history, we’ve defined a new course for this great city. Some will call this a comeback story, but for me, this is a city I feel I never left. I never stopped caring,” he said.
Time will tell if Ganim will go back to his old tricks, but for now, it seems the voters of Bridgeport prefer a man who admits to twisting arms over a more politically correct, docile candidate.

JM - 12

This "JM" series was meant to be practice.  Instead, it's turned into some sort of quasi-journal that may or may not be therapeutic.  What the hell do I know?

JM are my initials, me, the guy behind OrbsCorbs and a dozen other accounts,  This, my friends and enemies, is my art.  Like characters in a book, I use my online characters, but the story doesn't end.  It just keeps going and going on the internet.

I majored in English in college and graduated 2nd out of the whole school.  Looking back, I should have double majored.  I wasn't sure of anything when I started college, but I was leaning toward the sciences.  I did well.  I earned half the credits toward a degree in physics.  And then I took an intro to philosophy course.  It blew my mind.

I decided to major in the Humanities.  Meanwhile, both the head of the physics department and the head of the philosophy department each called me in and tried to convince me to major in their respective fields.  I declined, and went for English.  That physics major would be much more useful in the "real" world, but now I was a "poet."  I cruised through my senior year, drunk more often than not.  My last semester was all independent study, which meant I didn't have to attend classes,  Each independent study was with a different faculty member.

An Irish poet, James Liddy, was Parkside's artist in residence at the time.  We took a shine to each other immediately.  I remember when I asked him what I needed to do to get an A in my independent study with him.  He said, "Buy me a drink."  James went on to join the faculty at UWM and I visited him occasionally.  He died a few years back from kidney failure (cue creepy music).  What a mentor!  He gave me his knowledge and, apparently, his diseases. [From JSOnline: "Irish poet Liddy was 'classic Bohemian.'" - Read more: http://www.jsonline.com/news/obituaries/34240804.html]

The dean of the school called me in one day.  For the first time, Parkside students were allowed to apply for a Rhodes Scholarship.  Only I and the guy who graduated in first place had a chance.  I again declined because, although I certainly had the academic credentials, I had nothing in sports or community work  The other guy declined, too, but I don't know why.

While in school and afterward, I wrote a lot.  But as my drinking increased, my writing waned. After a few years, I was hardly writing at all, but drinking like a fiend.

I married a visual artist, and she had a fondness for port wine.  At first, we had a lovely time drinking together.  Later, we broke up because of my drinking and drugging and her infidelity.

When I finally sobered up in AA, I was 42-years old.  I started writing again, a little, but I wasn't driven.

Then the Internet showed up.  Damn!  I could write like crazy online and the landscape changed every day.  When that happened, a once-friend said to me, "You were only waiting for your medium."  That rang true with me.

I had a ball.  I even wrote to the mayor as one of my characters, and Tom Friedel responded.  I wove my characters in and out of discussions.  Locally, my first postings were on the old Journal Times site.  As founding members of the JT Irregulars remember, it got ugly between the Journal Times and the bloggers.  The JT deleted anything they didn't like and even started editing posts.  "Freedom of speech" is bullshit at the JT.  It was difficult to believe at first how petty the JT became, but they did.  We tried to negotiate with them, offering to meet for a discussion.  No way.  So we went "on strike" for a week, posting nothing on the JT site.  Still nothing changed.  I was awestruck by how some petty people from out of town were trying to squelch residents' posts.  That fucking "newspaper" doesn't even know the layout of our streets, but they were going to tell us what was happening in our city.  Thus, the JT Irregulars were born.  We started our own site and haven't looked back in 7-1/2 years.

I had quite a few laughs at the JT's expense.  I was easily the most banned character on the site, but I would just come back with another character.  "Madame Zoltar" was born out of this, not to mention OrbsO'Corbs and others.  Not to be too narcissistic, but some of my characters have made me laugh and laugh.  They're my children.  They thrive all over the net.

If you pay attention to any of the real news in Racine, it's depressing as hell.  Corruption at all levels of local government is flagrant and lying John pisses on the residents regularly to show his might.  The Journal Times is his accomplice in this, printing propaganda and lies.

So, what does all this mean?  It means what I said before: this is my art, and my characters are figures in that art.  I love posting online because whatever is posted, hundreds, maybe thousands, of people see it.  You're a wonderful audience and I expect my characters to grow with time.  Thank you for reading my rants, my jokes, my sorrows, and my madness.  It's all real.  I has to be: it's on the Internet.

Dog Beater: "Racine man arrested for allegedly throwing dog into wall"

From The Journal Times.com:

"RACINE — A Racine man was arrested Thursday when he allegedly beat a 1-year-old pit bull in a fit of rage.

"Police were called to the 2500 block of Northwestern Avenue at about 1:15 p.m. for a report of animal abuse.

"Brian Reichardt reportedly had been 'throwing a dog into the wall of an apartment,' according to a criminal complaint.

"Reichardt reportedly left the scene before officers arrived, but was located and arrested at a nearby gas station.

"According to Reichardt's girlfriend, the couple were arguing as they arrived home, at which point Reichardt said he was going to kill the 1-year-old pit bull, Ghost.

"Police said Reichardt went to Ghost's kennel, grabbed him, and threw him against a nearby wall, making a small hole where the dog's head struck. Reichardt also allegedly threw the dog against a hallway wall, and threw it against a door frame as it tried to return to its kennel.

"Several people were able to restrain Reichardt so that the dog could escape, and they placed the dog safely in a car until police arrived, according to the criminal complaint.

"The dog was yelping and crying throughout the attack, according to the criminal complaint."

"Judge Gerald P. Ptacek - Illuminating Hidden Truths" - 2

From Racine County Corruption:

"During our recent vetting process of Judge Ptacek's court, we have discovered what appears to be continued improprieties of judicial indiscretions.

"During the years of 2011, 12 and 13, we witnessed and documented in Judge Ptacek's court numerous judicial improprieties. These improprieties  included court records tampering, court schedule tampering, a false affidavit filed into court records, ex parte meetings and denial of trial.

"And it appeared during these years that Judge Ptacek was the willing orchestrator.

"So when we looked into cases after 2013, it so happens we found additional judicial improprieties alleged by other court participants.

"Today, we offer for illumination a case alleging improprieties that involve a licensed medical doctor from Kenosha, Angelina Montemurro, acting ProSe in Judge Ptacek's court ."

JM - 11

I hate being mentally ill.  I hate being poor.  I hate my life.  I hate myself.

My God is not an all-loving God.  That's pretty obvious.  He's petty and vengeful.  An all-good, all-loving, all powerful Being wouldn't allow the suffering in this world.  If you could stop the suffering of someone you love with a snap of the fingers, why wouldn't you help?  Would an all-loving God condemn trillions of souls to hell just because some woman took a bite of an apple millennia ago?

God  seems to enjoy violence and war and torture.  At worst, He fights against us.  At best, He doesn't give a shit about us.

In AA, a "personal" God is recommended.  I don't want to get personal with someone who allows such pain and suffering.

Don't get me wrong; I pray to God every day, many times a day.  There's nothing else I can do.  Ever since I was a kid praying that my parents would stop drinking and fighting, no good has come of it.  Sometimes I think that God is so big and so powerful, he can't hear us.  We're like cockroaches attempting to talk to a human.  We don't understand them, and I doubt if He understands or cares about us.

My God is not Santa Claus.  He doesn't reward you when you do well.  He's a monstrous taskmaster, heaping more and more pain on the poor, the disaffected,  and the powerless.

Don't talk to me about God and free will.  Very little that has happened to me in this life is something that I would "freely" choose.  God rams shit down our throats.  He doesn't seem interested in peace and love, only more blood and suffering.

I'll continue to pray to Him, I'll continue to do "good," but I expect nothing to happen or change.  Liars, thieves, and murderers still rule the world.

Amen.

"Florida Muslims terrified by Phone Message"

From LiveLeak:

"Muslims in Florida went to their local mosque on Monday morning (shortly after the terrorist attacks in France) and retrieved a voice message on their answerphone that terrified them. They immediately called the cops and asked for protection and appeared on local TV to proclaim that they are very different muslims from the ones who attacked Paris and also from the ones who are raping women in Sweden and the rest of Europe."

Dog Beater: "Police: Man Beats Dog While Drunk"

From Racine County Eye:

By Heather Asiyanbi in Police and fire · November 17, 2015

"Racine police say a 40-year-old man is in jail after he beat his dog over the weekend because the dog wouldn’t kiss him.
"Riad Yasin, of Racine, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with one misdemeanor count each of mistreatment of animals and disorderly conduct, both as repeat offenses. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail and/or up to $11,000 in fines.
"According to the criminal complaint, Yasin was drunk Friday afternoon and kept calling his female dog to go outside and then come back inside the house. When the animal came back into the home, Yasin was hugging her and asking her to give him kisses.

"Police say that when the dog didn’t kiss him as instructed, Yasin became enraged and punched the dog at least three times in her side before kicking her several times in the abdomen. A witness called police and said Yasin ran upstairs to hide. The dog went back outside and cowered under the porch."

I'm starting a new "feature" here.  Whenever I come across local news of dog beaters, I'll post it here.  These fucking cowards need to be outed.  Being drunk is absolutely no excuse.  I'm an alcoholic.  I've spilled more booze than most people have drunk.  No matter how drunk I got, I would never kick a dog or harm a child.  And that's part of it: anyone who would beat a dog would ptobably also beat a child.  May you psycopaths rot in hell.

"The Koran Does Not Forbid Images of the Prophet"

From Newsweek.com:

By

The Charlie Hebdo killers were operating under a misapprehension. Topkapı Palace Library

"In the wake of the massacre that took place in the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, I have been called upon as a scholar specializing in Islamic paintings of the Prophet to explain whether images of Muhammad are banned in Islam.

"The short and simple answer is no. The Koran does not prohibit figural imagery. Rather, it castigates the worship of idols, which are understood as concrete embodiments of the polytheistic beliefs that Islam supplanted when it emerged as a purely monotheistic faith in the Arabian Peninsula during the seventh century."

JM - 10

One day, I was whining to my psychiatrist about my mother's broken hip "ruining" my life financially from that point on.

She said to me, "Well, there's something to be said for living a life of integrity."

"That," I said, "and two dollars will get you a cup of coffee."

We don't need no stinkin' revolutionaries.
