"Racine- 2nd District Alderman Krystyna Sarrazin RESIGNS her position as Alderman for the City Of Racine."

From Racine Community Media:

"Some are now saying close friend and campaign supporter of Mayor John Dickert, Kimberly Kane, has already been chosen by Dickert to replace Sarrazin. Is this how elections are supposed to work? Are not the people supposed to elect their elected officials, or at least have a say in who their Alderman will be? Not in Racine.

"Kane was appointed to the Racine Cable Commission by Mayor Dickert and according to City Administrator Tom Friedel, she recently sent a letter of resignation resigning herself from the city commission.

"It would appear to be a conflict of interest for Kane, as a campaign supporter and contributor to Mayor Dickert and his campaign, to now being appointed an elected official.

"Kimberly Kane as a city official, also played a major role in destroying the Racine Community Access channel CAR25 for the residents back in 2013. More details to come."

Sorry, I just saw this. To answer your question "why did she not resign before the election?" -- I had not intention of resigning, that is why a worked so hard to win my re-election. However, my husband's job was relocated in NC and it was the best decision for the family to take this opportunity, even though it meant leaving the city we had lived in for 14 years, our historic home, the amazing constituents of the 2nd district, and many friends. -- Krystyna Sarrazin
