"City Of Racine residents start planting flowers in potholes in the streets throughout the city."

From Racine Community Media:

"Lakesha Washington and her team have taken to the streets themselves to draw attention to the terrible and unsafe road conditions throughout the City Of Racine. 'We started with repeated calls to the city, no one was listening. These kids out here are in danger, cars swerve to miss potholes, putting pedestrians and other drivers at high risk, Northwestern Ave. is the worst!'

"'If the city won’t do anything about it, we will do our part!'”

"Machinery Row and Rodney Blackwell hit with FRAUD & BREACH OF CONTRACT LAWSUIT!!"

From Racine Community Media:
"Racine- Another lawsuit has been filed against the Machinery Row project and Rodney Blackwell. This time it’s alleged fraud and breach of contract. Questions are now circulating as to how far Racine city officials are involved in this whole mess. Asked earlier in the week by the Racine Journal Times, both Mayor Dickert and City Administrator Tom Friedel declined to comment.

"Michael Knight claims Blackwell and Machinery Row have not delivered on financial guarantees and have falsely represented themselves. Knight said he provided extensive and ongoing services covering several hundreds of hours to the project, such as reviewing and amending tax credit applications, He claims his services on the Machinery Row project included, meeting with public officials, negotiating with public entities, and working with lenders on project financing.

"Knight is also seeking damages as determined by a trial.

"City Development Director Brian O’Connell who has been involved in a lot of the behind the scenes work for Machinery Row has just unexpectedly retired from his position as City Development Director with the city. O’Connell is now attempting to take Lisa Parham’s vacated seat on the Racine School Board."

"Kenosha County Sheriff say’s indictments are likely from city I.T. Department investigation."

From Racine Community Media:

"Kenosha County’s sheriff David Beth, called an email recovered during an investigation of the city’s computer system 'a crystal in the tip of the iceberg' of illegal activity, and he predicted various city employees will be indicted.

"Sheriff David Beth made the remarks in an address to the Kenosha Joint Services Board, the Kenosha News reported

"Sheriff Beth’s department is not involved in the investigation, which is being handled by the FBI, the state division of criminal investigations and the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

"Aldermen approve $10,000 pay hike, 2-year extension for Friedel"

From The Journal

June 16, 2015 10:23 pm  •

"RACINE — If City Administrator Tom Friedel decides to stay on in his position, he will see his contract extended by two years, and get a $10,000 increase in his $99,237 salary.

"That was the decision made by the City Council Tuesday night which discussed the issue for more than an hour before voting 8-6 to approve the adjustment.

"The proposal to increase Friedel’s salary by $10,000 — a $5,000 increase the first year, and a $5,000 increase the second year — came from Alderman Q.A. Shakoor.

"While the salary increase proposal was contentious and spurred several motions, the vote to extend the contract by two years was approved 10-2."

I thought they weren't going to give him any raise at all.  It's like the Middle Ages here.  Most of us are serfs and expendable.  Royalty, on the other hand, are gods and goddesses.

The police and firefighters have been lied to and gave up raises and benefits because Racine is "broke."  But when royalty is involved, there's plenty of money.  If worse comes to worst, take down more streetlights in the hood.

"Sodom and Gomorrah"

From The Journal

"Letters to the Editor"

"My parents would be shocked if they came back and saw what was going on today. No morality or respect for one another. What ever happened to the Golden Rule?

"I grew up in the ‘40s and ‘50s. We have changed 360 degrees since then. Murders, robberies and assaults on women are a daily occurrence. Chicago had 161 murders in the last 151 days. Women are having kids so they can get more welfare and young girls are having kids and not married. No morality, and more, there is no difference between now and Sodom and Gomorrah.

"They tell me I should roll with the flow.

"City Administrator Tom Friedel currently recieves $5k in yearly raises!!!!"

From Racine Community Media:
"Read the Emails and Contract by clicking to enlarge the images above!!!

"Under the current contract City Administrator Tom Friedel was given an initial raise by Mayor John Dickert from $85K to $95K before Friedel had even started his first day!!! Also, Mayor Dickert awarded Friedel with a yearly $5K raise, which would bring Tom Friedel’s current contract worth well over $125K in base salary!!!

"Some Aldermen were shocked and dismayed when they learned what they voted on was changed in private by Mayor John Dickert.

"Alderman Jim Kaplan said 'I’am dismayed, disheartened and thoroughly disgusted with this outcome, where is the accountability?'

"Read the emails and review the contract for yourself!!!"

More and more war videos like this are uploaded every day.  Videos like this one and the one below,:, remind me of the Prime Directive on Star Trek:

"In the fictitious universe of Star Trek, the Prime Directive is the guiding principle of the United Federation of Planets. The Prime Directive, used in four of the five Star Trek-based series, prohibits Starfleet personnel from interfering with the internal development of alien civilizations. This conceptual law applies particularly to civilizations which are below a certain threshold of technological, scientific and cultural development; preventing starship crews from using their superior technology to impose their own values or ideals on them. Since its introduction in the first season of the original Star Trek series, it has served as the focus of numerous episodes of the various series. As time travel became a recurring feature in the franchise, the concept was expanded as a Temporal Prime Directive, prohibiting those under its orders from interfering in historical events." -

It's not as bad as giving loaded machine guns to monkeys, but it's not that far away.  Most of these people led a simple life. Hostility with other tribes was common.  Enter the U.S. and other countries looking for oil.  Of course, the indigenous people resent this intrusion.  They quickly learn how to operate weapons of war.  Never-ending war.  Then our troops are landed and charged with regaining control of the people and the oil.

So many of our troops develop PTSD from these "non-wars." More than all the other wars combined.

Given these facts, I've  decided to run for President on the "Pull-Out Platform."

The platform is simple: pull out all of our troops from foreign countries and return them home.  Let the other countries solve their problems and we'll solve ours. And no more foreign aid, period.

I believe that the National Guard and the Coast guard should watch over our boundaries.

However, we should also keep the largest standing army and the best.  The same goes for the Navy, Marines, Army, and Air Force.  They should always be kept on the cutting edge of technology.  They must be large and technologically advanced enough to discourage any attack against us, and to annihilate our enemies of they're foolish enough to attack.

"Local lead endangers children, city asks residents to avoid key properties"

From The Journal

It's funny how lead in older homes and lead abatement are now a big deal in Racine.  I remember a few years ago when lying John was going on and on about his NSP (Neighborhood Sterilization Program).  At the same time, many of the older homes were being rehabbed without regard to lead hazards.  Some of the contractors hired to do the work were not certified in lead abatement.

Pictures where taken, locations noted, and a city employee quit his job rather than continue to lie for lying John concerning lead abatement.  Representatives from Madison came to Racine a number of times to teach the contractors lead abatement rules.  It was, as they say, all fucked up.

It finally led to lying John announcing on radio, during an election debate, that he fired a city employee for embezzlement.  That, in turn, led to a lawsuit, which, in turn, became a circus.  Once the employee made his point, he settled the suit for its cost, trying to show the residents of Racine that he wasn't in it for the money, but to expose lying John.

But we're supposed to forget all that and get excited now about lead abatement.

P.S.  About twenty years ago, they rebuilt a section of Chatham Street from the sewers up.  It was then that I learned that the lateral feeding water to our house was lead.  That may explain a lot of things.

"Journal Times editorial: Disney shouldn't get to use immigration loophole for outsourcing"

June 08, 2015 8:00 pm  •

"We’re not wild about outsourcing, but we recognize it as a fact of life in the 21st century American economy. Work formerly done for American companies by Americans is now being done overseas.

"We didn’t think outsourcing would take the form of foreigners brought into America to do the work at the American companies. But that’s what has been happening at DisneyWorld in Orlando, Fla.

"What definitely shouldn’t have happened is Disney exploiting a loophole in immigration law to bring in the foreign workers.

"A visa program known as H-1B provides a limited number of temporary visas — a total of 85,000 a year — for foreigners with computer, engineering or other advanced skills to fill jobs in American companies when American workers are not available.

"A lack of available workers was not the case at The Magic Kingdom.

"The New York Times reported Wednesday that about 250 Disney technology-operations workers were laid off last year and many were replaced by immigrants hired by an outsourcing company based in India.

"Before leaving, some of the laid-off workers had to train immigrants on H-1B visas to do their jobs.

"'I just couldn’t believe they could fly people in to sit at our desks and take over our jobs exactly,' one former worker, an American in his 40s who remains unemployed since his last day at Disney on Jan. 30, told the Times. 'It was so humiliating to train somebody else to take over your job. I still can’t grasp it.'

"We’re also finding it difficult to grasp. And questioning the legality of Disney having done so.

"U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., on Thursday asked the Department of Homeland Security to investigate the temporary visa program. In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Nelson asked him to examine 'potential misuses' of a visa program known as H-1B.

"'This program was created to help fill jobs when there were labor shortages, not to take jobs away from anyone,' Nelson wrote.

"In 2014, the power utility Southern California Edison initiated layoffs of 540 workers, replacing them with immigrants brought in by a different India-based outsourcing company. Sens. Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, and Richard Durbin, D-Ill., are among those asking the Labor Department to investigate those layoffs.

"The intention of H-1B is to fill skilled-worker gaps that already exist, not to help companies increase profits after they’ve deliberately created a skilled-worker gap."

Only Four More Years to Top Ten Citihood

Racine's once vibrant blogging community seems to be "sunsetting," as more and more blogs stop publishing. This can mean only one thing: the Ten-Year Plan is working and bloggers have less and less to bitch about.  Thank you, lying John, for your efforts.

Personally, I can barely wait.  I'm not exactly sure what Top Ten Citihood  entails, but I'm sure I'll recognize it once I see it.  In less than four years, Racine will be up there competing with Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, etc.  Our "City by the Lake" will see skyrocketing home values and jobs popping up everywhere.

Lying John and his whole gang should be thanked.  Thank you, guys and gals. who tax our money to protect us from spending it foolishly.

I have a vision: a huge bronze statue of Dickert with one foot planted at the end of each pier, thus creating an archway for boat traffic, like the Colossus of Rhodes.  We could name it, "the Colossal Liar of Racine."

"He won’t vote, and won’t say why!!!”

From Racine Community Media:

"City of Racine official Doug Nicholson refuses to vote on Machinery Row and refuses to answer on why he won’t vote!!!"

"Racine- When asked by a Journal Times reporter why he chose to abstain from voting on the Machinery Row deal now, Nicholson responded with 'none of your business, I’m not saying why I’m not voting.'

"The Redevelopment Authority of Racine voted 3-0 Monday to accept the matching Wisconsin Coastal Management Grant, with RDA member Doug Nicholson abstaining for reasons he declined to disclose.

"The problem with all of this is that Mr. Nicholson is a PUBLIC OFFICIAL, he along with Mayor John Dickert, are both being accused in a Federal Court Case of Bribery, Extortion and Money Laundering. Mr. Nicholson in his official appointed position, REPRESENTS THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY!! So why the secrets? So why not tell the community why you are NOT voting? Has Mr. Nicholson been promised a development deal? Has Mr. Nicholson already put up money for a business in machinery row? Is this more 'insider trading on behalf of city officials?'

"When you disqualify yourself or abstain, you should not participate in any aspect of the decision-making process. The theory is that if it is inappropriate to vote on a matter, it is also inappropriate to participate in the discussion or in any other activity that could influence a colleague’s vote.

"Sacred Rage, by Robert Gore"

"You put down the newspaper or turn off your computer because you can only take so much. Day after day an endless litany of idiocy and corruption. You know it can’t last, but when will it end? That’s the consolation—it can’t last—and there must be, sooner or later, some measure of justice. Something will happen that’s beyond the control of the controllers, the relentless grabbers of power and wealth, and their castles of cards will come tumbling down. There will be payback; they will get what they deserve—finally.

"When you were a kid, what made you the maddest? The obnoxious know-it-alls who bossed you around? The bullies who took your stuff and humiliated you? The two-faced apple-polishing teachers’ pets? Maybe a day came when you had just had enough. You told a know-it-all off, got an apple-polisher in trouble, threw the first punch and gave a bully a real fight. Maybe you got sent to the principal or beat up, but whatever the consequences, what you had done was worth it. You rebelled against something fundamentally unfair, you let something out that you could no longer keep in, and in so doing, you found the best part of yourself. Damn it, nobody was going to tell you what to do!

"Sacred rage: the rage felt by the right towards the wrong. Decent people get tired of being told what to do. The US became the US when a group of British colonists grew weary of The King’s decrees. Now, 239 years later, the US government is the leading two-faced, know-it-all bully on the planet, an immoral, out-of-control amalgamation of cynical and ruthless acolytes of absolute power."

"Austin Officers Thrown Back from Exploding Car - Suspect Gets Back In Burning Car!"

From LiveLeak:

"AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police Department and Fire Arson investigators are looking into the cause of an explosion that sent three people, including two police officers, to area hospitals early Tuesday morning.

"Fire officials say officers were trying to talk to a driver around 2 a.m. at the Stassney Food Mart on 5717 South Interstate 35. When officers tried to get closer to him, he jumped back in his car and said, “I think I’m going to set the car and fire,” according to APD dash camera video. A few seconds later, a loud pop is heard and fire engulfed the vehicle.

"One of the officers said he saw the driver with a lighter in his hand and investigators believe the vehicle had fuel in it.

"The officers were able to pull the driver — who was alone — out of the burning car before fire crews arrived, and the driver was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge in serious condition and may likely have to be taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

"Police say they believe the driver of the vehicle was trying to commit suicide.

"Meanwhile, one of the two officers involved went to South Austin Medical Center with minor injuries to his arm; he hit his elbow in the incident. The officer managed to drive his own cruiser to get checked out at the hospital and was treated and released. The other officer was treated at the scene and released."

"Proposed Friedel raise breeds debate"

From The Journal

"RACINE — What direction should be given to the Committee of the Whole when it meets to consider the extension of City Administrator Tom Friedel’s contract and a proposed 31 percent raise for the position was the source of debate during Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

"Aldermen debated whether signing off on the Finance and Personnel Committee’s vote to have the request sent to the Committee of the Whole with a recommendation supporting the proposed raise would mean the council itself was actually supporting that recommendation.

"Alderman Sandy Weidner made a proposal to table the finance committee’s recommendation so the Committee of the Whole could meet to discuss the extension of Friedel’s contract without a recommendation on what kind of raise he may or may not deserve.

"Mayor John Dickert and even City Attorney Rob Weber seemed to have different understandings of what tabling the item — a move alderman supported 8-7 — might actually do.

"Dickert requested the body take a five-minute recess, after which City Council President Dennis Wiser made a direct referral to send the item to the Committee of the Whole."

"Why We’re Hosting A Forum On Bullying"

From Racine County Eye:

By Denise Lockwood in Breaking · June 1, 2015

"The Racine County Eye is hosting a forum on bullying from 6 to 8 p.m. June 3 at the Bray Center, 924 Center Street.

"We’d love for you to be there because we know how important children are in this community. And for us, the issue of bullying has become too important to ignore.
"After 15-year-old Caledonia resident Cameron Langrell committed suicide in April after he was bullied when he came out as transgender, Heather Asiyanbi and I started talking about how the community reacted and what we can do to help people have better discussions about this issue. We noticed the need for information: How bullying is addressed in the community, what resources are available, and what to do if your child is being bullied or is the bully.
"We noticed that parents often feel almost as isolated as their children do when their children are being bullied and we’d like to help change that. This is a forum on bullying of all forms, not just kids that are transgender."

Good, good, good.  I wish this type of awareness was around when I was in school.  I vote for branding bullies with a "B" on their foreheads.  To this day, when I see a video where a bully gets beat up, I admit to feeling a visceral joy.
