"Stevie Ray Vaughan's legend lives on 25 years after death"

From JSOnline:

Sony Music

35 years old, newly sober and on the cusp of real stardom, died in a helicopter crash after performing at Alpine Valley on Aug. 27, 1990.

"Crash after Alpine Valley show killed influential electric guitarist"

"Before the last song of the last show of a two-night stand at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, guitar legend Eric Clapton stepped up to the microphone.

"'I'd like to bring out to join me, in truth, the best guitar players in the entire world: Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray... Jimmie Vaughan.'

"The group lit into an extended jam of the classic 'Sweet Home Chicago,' with 40,000 people soaking up blistering guitar licks as the performers traded vocals.

"Shortly after midnight on Aug. 27, 1990 — 25 years ago Thursday — four helicopters left Alpine Valley for Chicago, carrying performers and crew members. Three made it. The other flew barely a half-mile before crashing into a ski slope.

"Among the five dead: Stevie Ray Vaughan — 35 years old, newly sober, on the cusp of real stardom, and already considered one of the greatest electric guitarists who ever lived.

"Plane crashes have claimed other pop and rock stars: Otis Redding, Jim Croce, Rick Nelson, Ronnie Van Zant, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. But in the world of blues generally and electric guitar specifically, the East Troy crash is a singular tragedy that resonates to this day.

"'After he cleaned himself up, by 1990, he was back to playing guitar in a ferocious way. The tour with Eric Clapton, those shows are legendary,' said Jason Hanley, senior director of education for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. '... Who knows what he would have done next.

Donald Trump is the Antichrist

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time."
—1 John 2:18

Are these the end times?  The tunult and violence in the world today are unprecedented.  Emerging from the morass is Donald Trump, telling people not what is, but what they want to hear.

He walks and talks and acts like the Antichrist, promising everything to everyone.  Americans love an entertainer and that's what Trump is.  He's going to entertain us straight to hell.

Keep lying.  We love it.  It makes me think of lying John as one of the many mini-Antichrists.  When they consolidate power, Satan will rule the world until The Christ returns to destroy evil forever.

Party on, lying Don!

Murders, rape, beatings, abuse, cheating, thievery, corruption, lies and more lies.  These are the orders of the day and I cannot take it much longer.  I’ve always felt “different” and I think that’s because I actually believed the loads of horseshit that society, school and my church put out.  I actually believed in good and love and honesty.  What an idiot!

Every time I’ve tried to put my beliefs in action, I’ve been taken advantage of.  I can’t take much more of that pain.  I’m so very tired of “fighting for what’s right” and getting kicked in the balls for my efforts.  I guess I don’t understand how to say one thing while doing another.  I guess I don’t understand an all powerful, all loving, all righteous “God” that tolerates, perhaps endorses, pain and suffering and death.  The growing disparity between what I’m told and what actually happens is beyond my comprehension.

I’ve felt this way since childhood.  I used to think that I was an alien on this planet, put here for some purpose I can’t decipher.  60 years later, I don’t feel much different.  None of this makes sense to me.

This is not my world.  I think it might be time to leave.  I can no longer tolerate the noise in my head or the despair in my heart.

This is not my world.

"Brave black lady slams hypocrisy of #BlackLivesMatter protesters"

From LiveLeak:

So there’s all this crap.  My whole life.  All this crap.  46 years, 47 next week.  Most of it my adult life.  I mean, most of what bothers me is what I chose to do, or not do.  The crap that happened to me as a kid I had little control over, or understanding of.  It probably made me most of what I am today, but it happened to me, it was a movie, I didn’t do much.  As an adult, though, I had a hand in all sorts of crap; big messes and mountains of waste.  All of that bothers me. Some times more than others.  This morning it was weighing on me and I thought about it for a while, prayed a little, mulled it.  Seems I make certain resolutions over and over, but don’t act on them.  Like, I’m going to write.  Like, I’m going to take time for myself instead of always tending to others’ needs.  Like, I’m finally going to get serious about finding out who I am.
Seems, though, I never do it.  All this crap gets in the way.  All the ragged details of living everyday life get caught up in the machinery of my dream engines and stick up the works.  By evening time, I’m not inclined to do too much intellectual weight lifting.  So today, this morning, I kind of make another resolution to take some time regularly to write, to read, to enlighten, or attempt to enlighten, my brain again.  But by the time I get home from work, I’m shot and thinking supper, a shower, and some TV maybe, then crash to sleep.  I’m thinking that and not much about the crap.
When I finally turn the TV on, there’s some show about Sam Shepard, the writer/playwright, on PBS.  Some guy who has actually done something with his life.  Some guy who has taken the crap and molded it into work, a work, something to build a life out of.  This show is going on, and I’m watching it, and Sam Shepard seems to be a pretty good guy, honest and real.  When the show is over the announcer says they’re going to show his play True West next.  I decide to watch some mindless movie on TBS, something to nod off to.
Then I remember this morning.  All the crap.  I remember myself maybe and some promises I’ve made to me.  I wonder if I can take all this crap and do something with it, or at least get it out of the way if that’s where it is, and get on with something.  So here I am.  Writing this.  Here I am thinking there’s got to be something I can do with what’s left of me, something I can do with the hours I can sneak between the job, and AA meetings, and helping friends,  something I can cram in for me, and you, and whoever else might be interested.  Let’s find out.  And cut the crap.

The tiger and the lion may be more powerful...

"Mayor Dickert’s Chief Of Staff Greg Bach kicks the Mayor to the curb and has abruptly quit his job with the City Of Racine!!!!"

From Racine Community Media:

"All this in the midst of a major federal lawsuit which both Greg Bach and the Mayor himself were named in, that was filed in early 2014.

"Feb. 26th 2014- Dickert’s administrative assistant, Greg Bach, who also is named in the lawsuit, said Wednesday that the mayor had no comment.

"'There is no comment at this point, and there will be no comment; we are sending all requests for comment to the attorney who is handling the case,' Bach said. -Source Journal Times

"Sources are saying ongoing lies and lawsuit tensions and more reports of internal disfunction and fighting may have led to his abrupt departure. It’s rumored that Bach will now be pursuing a career as a stand up comedian. (No Joke)

"It seems Bach is joined by a growing list of city officials running for the hills and quitting Dickert and his failed policies. The recent list includes: Alderman Greg Helding, City Of Development Director Brian O’Connell, City Attorney Rob Weber. All of them quitting within the last 4 months, who’s next?"

"Led Zeppelin - Your Time Is Gonna Come"

This is for all the thieves in local government and their cronies.

Fuck you.

Despite more than doubling fees on residents and receiving $316,000.00 in grants every year, and taking in over a whopping $1.5 million dollars a year for recycling, city still needs more money for recycling carts!!!!

From Racine Community Media:

"The city is asking residents to pay $38K more towards recycling carts.

"The current 'fee' for City Of Racine residents has skyrocketed to an outrageous $26 a year on the blue recycle bins. Going back to 2010 when the recycle bin program was being sold to council members and the community, the rate was $10 dollars charged to each resident for the bins at a term not to exceed 10 years. As the mayor was quoted as saying to the Journal Times in 2010, 'The fee will allow the city to pay off the carts in four years.'

"The city purchased 28,500 carts for $1.3 million dollars in 2010. If we do basic math and take the 28,500 carts and charged $26 each for 10 years, that’s $7.6 million dollars. In addition to receiving a yearly grant in the amount of $306K.

"So the big question here is, WHERE IS THE MONEY? How much has been takin in as a result of the new and old taxes, and where is the money going?"

"City Of Racine Ignores Warning Of Illegal Tax On It’s Residents!!!!"

From Racine Community Media:

"In a desperate attempt to raise taxes on Racine residents and homeowners, The City Of Racine is going against all warnings to not proceed with this idea. Racine County Treasurer Jane Nikolai gave the city her advice.

"'You cannot put a special assessment on a property without a direct benefit to the property owner. If they do that it will be an illegal tax and they will be fined by the Department of Revenue,' she said. 'I told them that.'

"To more equitably spread that cost, DPW Director Mark Yehlen has proposed that all needed sidewalk repairs, including city-owned pathways in parks and other locations, be paid for by a fee assessed to property owners on their annual tax bill. Residential property owners would pay $25 a year, under the proposal, commercial property owners $50.

"'The sidewalks are there for the benefit of everybody and the folks that have sidewalks are the ones that have been paying the freight,' he said. 'People who don’t have sidewalks have been getting off scot-free.'

"Alderman Jim Morgenroth noted that he paid to replace 36 sidewalk squares over the years and wouldn’t mind 'throwing $25 into the pot' to make the process less painful."

From Racine Community Media:

"Racine- The great debacle that is Machinery Row, continues to fall and stumble, leading residents and some aldermen asking the question, 'What is really going on here?'

"Back in June of 2014, over 1 year ago Machinery Row Project Manager Jim Bowman said that by July of 2014 (last year) anchor tenants would be secured and that occupancy would begin in fall of 2015!! Despite receiving over $9 million dollars in tax credits in January of 2014, and over $4.5 million dollars in city taxpayer money, the project has thus far failed to meet it’s promised deadlines and failed to deliver what was promised to the city and it’s residents back in 2014.

"The project has failed to produce and failed to fullfill it’s promises to city residents and city officials alike. The development has been shrouded in secrecy and filled with lawsuits, with information being withheld from aldermen and residents along the way, does anyone really know the truth anymore, does anyone really care?

"Project Manager Jim Bowman recently told the Journal Times, 'We know the clock is ticking and we have a deadline with the city of this fall.' He also indicated that there is still no date to begin the work."

Guidance Department

I told him that I didn’t know what he was talking about.
Father Schaeffer replied that he knew my sister, that they were friends. “We spoke in this room often,” he said. “I know about your family.”
So that was it. Tina, my sister, was five years older than me and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School a year before I started there. Not only did she leave behind a trail of good behavior and grades for comparison to mine, but she must have cried on this priest’s shoulder about the drinking and fighting at home. I felt obligated to defend our family’s honor. “I’m sorry,” I said, “but I still don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He eyed me. He had snatched me out of the hallway between classes and taken me to the Guidance Department. “OK,” he said, “If you ever need me, you know where to find me.”
     “Thank you,” I said.
He wrote out a late slip and handed it toward me. As I reached for it, he held onto it momentarily and repeated, “If you ever need me.”
I nodded toward him and again said, “Thank you.”
I felt a great relief after I left his office.
I never went back there or spoke to him again.

"I go to the bookstore"

            I go to the bookstore.
He says what do you do all day.  “What do you do all day?”  I curl my fingers so that they touch the tip of my thumb, and I move my hand up and down.  Why don’t you paint my store he says.  “Paint your store?”  I’m not a painter.  I’m a landscaper, or a writer, or something.  All painters are drunks.  I am a drunk, but I haven’t had a drink for over nine years.  Nine years, 2 months, 23 days, thirteen hours . . . tick-tick-tick.  Paint your store?  Why don’t you?  Why is somebody always trying to find something for me to do, something that they think I should do, usually for them?  Why don’t I think about what other people should do?
            Because I don’t care.
            Because they are already lost.
Because we’re all going to die.
I go to the bookstore.  The first time in months.  Maybe years.  I read more when I was drunk.  Wrote more, too.  Today, the TV terrorizes me.  Traffic terrorizes me.  The massive swarms of ugly us all over the place terrorize me.  ALL THE FUCKING COMMERCIALS JUST YELL AND YELL AND SCREAM AND YELL!  Apparently we are in need of frenzy; apparently we must have constant stimulation.  Apparently lights quick bug shout jump lights yell back forth up yell yell yell bang bang lights here now quick here now now yell.
            I don’t buy it.  Literally.
Take acid, if that’s what you want, I mean it, take LSD you pussies, or shut the fuck up.  Take acid all the time, anytime, every time, or shut up.
I go to the bookstore because I’ve been given a gift certificate for my birthday.  51.  Thank God.  The older I get, the less I care about things.  The less I care about the lies.  It is all lies.  Language is thought, language is love, language is all we got.  All we got is lies.  Not only is it impossible to tell what the truth is anymore, it is impossible to tell what the language is.  It is impossible to tell the truth with the language.  The lies are now built-in.  They are standard equipment.  No truth option available.
I go to the bookstore.

"Racine Documentary Pattern or Practice released on You Tube"

About the Film
"The story of how a small Midwestern town waged war on African-American and Hispanic bar owners to drive them out of the changing town.

"Pattern or Practice peels the veneer off that shoddy pretense and provides a stark view of what institutionalized racism looks like. a small Midwestern town, once a manufacturing powerhouse, is a backsliding, post-industrial community with a race problem so pervasive that disbelief is nearly always the observer’s first reaction. By the time the final credits are rolling, that disbelief is replaced by anger, disgust, perhaps shame and hopefully a desire for change.

"Pattern or Practice features restaurant bar owners who had their licenses and businesses taken by city elected officials. The footage includes interviews with business owners who, with their own words and emotions, outline the abuse and harassment they experienced at the hands of the city. The film uses documentation from actual committee meetings, network news casts and articles that ran in the local newspaper.

"The title, Pattern or Practice, comes from the Justice Department term meaning: pattern of discrimination that has been conducted against a group of persons or an issue of general public importance. The film focuses on the practice of selective legal enforcement that is enabled by a passive public perception of 'I’m glad it’s not me'. County Supervisor and owner of the local black newspaper, Ken Lumpkin, states 'I was raised in Montgomery Alabama during the marches for freedom with Dr. King and thought this type of activity was dead.'”
